1. In this agreement the following terms will have the definitions and meanings herein given unless the context suggests otherwise. “Administrators” refers to the Administrators of the HIP Alliance Initiative of IPOS, and the owner and partners of the HIP website, namely, IPOS, by its duly authorised officers, and any person, whether a HIP Alliance member or otherwise, duly authorised by the Director-General, IPOS, to access and exercise the HIP Alliance administrative functions for the purpose of assisting in the operation, maintenance, updating, editing, repair or improvement of the HIP website. “HIP Alliance” refers to the “Honour Intellectual Property” Alliance, IPOS’ flagship public awareness initiative. The HIP Alliance is a coalition of Government agencies, private organisations and industry associations that seeks to raise awareness of intellectual property (IP) issues among the general public. “HIP Friends” refers to members of the public who signed up for the pro-IP movement in embracing the HIP values and pledging to “Live for Real”. “IPOS” refers to the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. “User” is any user of the webpages, functions, features, programmes and applications or any other materials found on the HIP website.
COPYRIGHT POLICY AND USE OF HIP WEBSITE MATERIALS 2. Users are permitted to print and download portions of materials from the different areas of the HIP website solely for personal or non-commercial use on the following conditions:

As regards the use of the materials on the HIP website, the Users: a) shall properly and appropriately acknowledge the authorship and source of any materials on the website that is used and shall respect and abide by the terms and conditions of use, if any, required by the respective contributors of the materials, where the contributors have provided reasonable prominent notice of these terms and conditions on the relevant webpages or documents concerned; b) shall not reproduce, communicate or make available to the public, or otherwise disseminate any of the material on this site for any commercial purpose, or as part of any commercial undertaking, unless such acts are permitted under the law or permission to do these acts has been obtained from IPOS, the Administrators and/or any other relevant authority, and c) shall not charge for a copy (electronic or otherwise) of any material from this server.
INFORMATION OR MATERIALS FROM HIP FRIENDS AND THIRD PARTIES 4. IPOS and/ or the Administrators do not necessarily endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify or agree with the comments, opinions or statements posted or provided by HIP Friends or any other third parties. Any information or material placed online, including advice and opinions, are the views and responsibility of those who post the statements and do not necessarily represent the views of IPOS and/or the Administrators.

The following Privacy Statements shall govern the use and operation of the HIP website and its Users: a) If you are only browsing this website, we do not capture data that allows us to identify you individually. b) The HIP Alliance aims to inculcate HIP values of creativity, originality and respect for IP and organises programmes and platforms to that end. For this purpose, the HIP Alliance collects personal information to facilitate the promotion of IP awareness and the dissemination of up-to-date IP information. We may share necessary data with other Government agencies, unless such sharing is prohibited by legislation. We will NOT share your personal data with non-Government entities, except where such entities have been authorised to carry out specific Government services. d) For your convenience, we may also display to you data you had previously supplied us. This will speed up the transaction and save you the trouble of repeating previous submissions. Should the data be out-of-date, please supply us the latest data. We will retain your personal data only as necessary for the effective delivery of public services to you. e) To safeguard your personal data, all electronic storage and transmission of personal data are secured with appropriate security technologies. f) This site may contain links to non-Government sites whose data protection and privacy practices may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content and privacy practices of these other websites and encourage you to consult the privacy notices of those sites. g) If you have any inquiries relating to our privacy statement or enquiries about data that you have earlier supplied to us, please contact the Administrators at ipos_hipfriends@ipos.gov.sg
6. The Administrators reserve the right, at their discretion, to withdraw, terminate or otherwise alter the structure and organisation of the site at any time.
DISCLAIMERS & EXCLUSION CLAUSE 7. All information and materials on the HIP website are made available to foster and facilitate the objectives of the HIP Alliance Initiative and interchange between HIP Friends, and not for the purpose of giving or taking legal advice. 8. IPOS and the Administrators do not warrant the accuracy, adequacy or completeness of the information and materials and expressly disclaim any liability for errors or omissions in such information and materials. 9. The Administrators shall in no event be liable for any damages, loss or expense including without limitation, direct, indirect, special or consequential damage or economic loss arising from or in connection with: a) Any access, use or the inability to access or use this website, or reliance on the contents of the website b) Any system, server or connection failure, error, omission, interruption, delay in transmission, or computer virus; c) Any use of or access to any other website linked to this website; 10. Any hyperlinks to any other websites are not any endorsement or recommendation of such websites and such websites should be accessed at the Users own risks. This exclusion clause shall take effect to the fullest extent permitted by law. 11. The materials on the HIP website will be periodically updated or improved without notice. No warranty of any kind, implied, express or statutory, including but not limited to the warranties of non-infringement of third party rights, title, merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose and freedom from computer virus, is given in conjunction with the information and materials on the HIP website.
PARTIES, VARIATIONS, GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION 12. The Users obligations set out in these Terms of Use of the HIP website shall be deemed to be owing to the Administrators and the rights and discretions of the Administrators shall be exercised by and shall be legally held by IPOS. 13. The Administrators reserve the right to amend the terms and conditions contained herein at any time. The terms and conditions so varied or replaced shall be in force from the date the changes are introduced on the HIP website, and shall be deemed to be accepted by the User upon the User’s subsequent use of the site. 14. This Agreement shall be deemed to be an agreement made in Singapore and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore and all the parties hereto hereby agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts in respect of any dispute arising from or regarding this agreement or the use of the HIP website or anything done by IPOS and/or the Administrators or their authorised agents.
